1. What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. They help the site remember information about your visit, such as your preferences and which pages you've viewed. This policy also covers similar technologies like browser local storage, pixels, and JavaScript tags.
2. Categories We Use
Recipee uses two categories of cookies and similar technologies:
- Strictly necessary — required for the site to function (e.g. authentication sessions for signed-in users, remembering your cookie consent choice). These do not require consent under GDPR.
- Analytics & marketing— used to understand how visitors find and use our marketing site and to measure advertising campaigns. These require your explicit consent and only load after you click "Accept".
3. Specific Cookies and Trackers
On the public marketing pages of recipee.app (excluding the signed-in app at /recipee and admin areas), the following analytics and marketing technologies may load — but only if you consent:
| Provider | Purpose | Category |
|---|---|---|
| Google Tag Manager | Manages and loads other marketing/analytics tags. | Analytics & marketing |
| Google Ads (gtag.js) | Measures the effectiveness of our advertising and powers remarketing audiences. | Marketing |
| Metricool | Visitor analytics and traffic insights. | Analytics |
Inside the signed-in application, we also use strictly necessary cookies and tokens for authentication and session management via our auth provider (Clerk). These are essential for the service to work and are not subject to consent.
4. Managing Your Consent
On your first visit to a public page, we show a consent banner with two options: Accept or Reject. No analytics or marketing trackers load until you choose Accept. Your choice is stored in your browser's local storage and persists across visits.
You can change your choice at any time:
- Use the link in the footer of any public page.
- Clear your browser's site data for recipee.app — this resets consent to its default (no tracking) and triggers the banner on your next visit.
- Most browsers also let you block or delete cookies at the browser level via Settings > Privacy. Doing so may break some parts of the signed-in app.
5. Third-Party Cookies
The marketing/analytics providers above set their own cookies when they load. Recipee does not control how these third parties use the data they receive. For their respective policies, see:
6. Updates to This Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the trackers we use or in applicable law. The date at the top of this page indicates when it was last revised.
